FAQs

  • Stop losing jobs to sticker shock. When customers get hit with $5,000+ upgrade quotes, they often delay projects or find cheaper competitors. Stepwise lets you:

    • Win more work - Give customers an affordable "yes" instead of an expensive "no"

    • Higher margins - Faster installs with less labor than service upgrades

    • Happier customers - Solve their problem without the cost, permits, and delays

    • Competitive advantage - Separate yourself from installers who only offer upgrades

Bottom line: Customers want options. Having Stepwise in your toolkit means more closed deals and referrals.

  • Absolutely! This product is listed to UL916 Standards (#802507) and is compliant with the national electric code.

As a listed Energy Management System, loads supplied by the Stepwise Tap™ add nothing to the calculated load. The charging load will be omitted from the overall load-calculation per NEC Section 750.30(C).

  • Best suited for single-family and small multi-family properties with <200A electrical services that are at capacity. Example use cases include:

    • Housing developments with underground services that are cost prohibitive

    • Small condominiums requiring simultaneous control of building and individual dwelling panels to avoid a transformer upgrade

    • For homeowner that already have an EV charger and want to add another appliance without needing a service upgrade

Reach out to us about other use cases you would like to see.

  • Dynamic Load Management (DLM) optimizes electricity use by shifting electric capacity between appliances in real time. It prevents overloads, reduces costs, and enables efficient energy use. Stepwise uses DLM to let homeowners install EV chargers and other high-power devices without expensive panel upgrades.

Today, Stepwise uses Dynamic Load Management on Level-2 chargers, including Wallbox, Tesla, and Grizz-le chargers. All other level 2 chargers and outlets can be load shed at this time. Additional chargers will be available for DLM in the near future.

  • Unlike traditional load management that simply turns devices on or off, Stepwise uses dynamic load management to intelligently adjust power in real-time. This ensures smooth EV charging and home electrification without disruptions or costly panel upgrades. Plus, our hardware is proudly manufactured in America, delivering reliable, high-quality technology
