Updated: June 19, 2026

This Limited Warranty (“Limited Warranty”) is provided by Stepwise Electric, Inc. (“Stepwise,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and applies to the Stepwise Tap™ product (“Stepwise Tap” or “Product”) purchased from Stepwise or an authorized Stepwise reseller.

1. Warranty Coverage

Stepwise warrants that the Stepwise Tap will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of three (3) years from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty Period”), subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, and claim process described in this Limited Warranty.

During the Warranty Period, this Limited Warranty may not be transferred by the original purchaser to any person or entity except to the owner of the property where the Stepwise Tap was originally installed.

2. Registration Requirement

To activate this Limited Warranty, the Stepwise Tap must be registered by completing device setup within ninety (90) days of purchase.

Device setup may include connecting the Stepwise Tap to local Wi-Fi, associating the Product with a Stepwise account or installer account, entering the Product serial number, and completing required commissioning or registration steps through the Stepwise webapp or other Stepwise-approved process.

If Wi-Fi connection or online registration is not available at the time of installation, Customer should contact Stepwise support for assistance with registration.

5. Stepwise Remedy

During the Warranty Period, if Stepwise determines that a Stepwise Tap has a defect covered by this Limited Warranty, Stepwise will, at its option, repair or replace the Stepwise Tap free of charge (the “Remedy”).

Stepwise may use new, refurbished, reconditioned, or functionally equivalent parts or products in providing the Remedy. Stepwise reserves the right to use parts or products of original or improved design in any repaired or replacement Stepwise Tap.

Any repaired or replacement Stepwise Tap provided under this Limited Warranty will be covered for the remainder of the original Warranty Period or one (1) year from the date of reinstallation, whichever is later.

6. Shipping and Labor

If Stepwise determines that a Stepwise Tap is covered under this Limited Warranty, Stepwise will cover reasonable standard shipping costs for return shipment of the original Product to Stepwise and standard shipment of the repaired or replacement Product to Customer, using a non-expedited carrier selected by Stepwise, to and from locations within the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and Canada.

Stepwise may, at its discretion, cover reasonable labor costs directly related to uninstalling the covered Product and reinstalling the repaired or replacement Product, but only where such work is approved in advance by Stepwise and performed as directed by Stepwise by a licensed electrician or other qualified electrical professional approved by Stepwise for the specific warranty claim.

Stepwise will not be responsible for labor, travel, diagnostic, troubleshooting, service call, permit, inspection, upgrade, rework, or other costs unless approved in advance in writing by Stepwise as part of a covered warranty claim.

7. Freight Carrier Damage

This Limited Warranty does not cover shipping damage or damage resulting from mishandling by a freight carrier or delivery provider. Claims related to freight carrier damage must be pursued directly against the freight carrier or delivery provider, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Customers should inspect delivered products promptly and notify Stepwise of any visible shipping damage as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Customer Cooperation

Stepwise’s obligations under this Limited Warranty are conditioned on Customer’s reasonable cooperation with Stepwise support personnel and compliance with the claim process described below.

Stepwise may require Customer, installer, or contractor to provide information such as proof of purchase, registration email, Product serial number, installation date, installer information, description of the issue, photos, videos, device logs, electrical configuration information, commissioning information, or other information reasonably necessary to evaluate the warranty claim.

9. Claim Process

To initiate a claim under this Limited Warranty, Customer must follow this claim process:

  1. During the Warranty Period, contact Stepwise at support@getstepwise.com and provide:

    • Registration email;

    • Product serial number, if available;

    • Proof of purchase, if requested;

    • Description of the issue or defect;

    • Photos, videos, or other supporting information, if available;

    • Phone number where Customer may be reached during normal business hours.

  2. Stepwise will make reasonable efforts to respond by email or phone within two (2) business days after receiving the warranty claim.

  3. Stepwise may attempt to diagnose and resolve the issue remotely.

  4. If Stepwise is unable to resolve the issue remotely, Stepwise may request additional information, coordinate with the original installer, recommend that Customer contact a licensed electrician, or arrange further inspection or service as appropriate.

  5. If Stepwise determines that the Product may need to be returned, repaired, or replaced, Stepwise will issue instructions and, where applicable, a Return Authorization, which you can find here.

  6. Customer may not return any Product to Stepwise without prior authorization from Stepwise.

  7. Once a Return Authorization has been approved, Stepwise will determine whether the Product is covered under this Limited Warranty and, if covered, will provide the Remedy described in this Limited Warranty.

10. Exclusive Warranty

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY GIVEN BY STEPWISE AND, WHERE PERMITTED BY LAW, IS MADE EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF TITLE, QUALITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR WARRANTIES AS TO THE ACCURACY, SUFFICIENCY, OR SUITABILITY OF ANY TECHNICAL OR OTHER INFORMATION PROVIDED IN MANUALS, PRODUCT DOCUMENTATION, INSTALLATION MATERIALS, WEBSITES, OR OTHER COMMUNICATIONS.

NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY STEPWISE OR ANY STEPWISE REPRESENTATIVE, INSTALLER, CONTRACTOR, RESELLER, DISTRIBUTOR, OR OTHER THIRD PARTY WILL CREATE ANY WARRANTY OR INCREASE THE SCOPE OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STEPWISE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, LOSSES, COSTS, OR EXPENSES HOWEVER ARISING, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, WARRANTY, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY ECONOMIC LOSSES, LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, OR PERSONAL INJURY.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STEPWISE’S AND ITS SUPPLIERS’ MAXIMUM LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE PRODUCT OR THIS LIMITED WARRANTY WILL NOT EXCEED THE ACTUAL PURCHASE PRICE RECEIVED BY STEPWISE FOR THE STEPWISE TAP AT ISSUE.

CUSTOMER AGREES THAT THE EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS SET FORTH IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY WILL GOVERN AND CONTROL OVER ANY OTHER REMEDIES TO WHICH CUSTOMER MAY OTHERWISE BE ENTITLED AND WILL BE GIVEN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT WHETHER OR NOT ANY OR ALL SUCH REMEDIES ARE DEEMED TO HAVE FAILED OF THEIR ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.

THESE LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY ARE EFFECTIVE EVEN IF STEPWISE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

12. Implied Warranties and State Law Rights

To the extent any implied warranties are required under applicable law to apply to the Stepwise Tap, such implied warranties will, to the extent permitted by applicable law, be limited in duration to the Warranty Period.

Some states or provinces do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so some of the limitations or exclusions above may not apply.

This Limited Warranty gives Customer specific legal rights. Customer may have other rights that vary from state to state or province to province.
