Dynamic Charging
Dynamic charging allows your charger to modulate the amount of charging output based of your home usage. This requires communication to be set up between the Tap, charger, and the cloud based on the type of dynamic charging that best fits your needs.
How It Works
The Tap is in constant monitoring of the use of electricity around the household, and can sense when the use of the charger is causing the limit to go over capacity and can change the charge so it stays right below the limit. It calculates this difference and sends that as a message to the charger or vehicle so it can change the amount of charge availible. Learn more about how dynamic charging works here.
Compatible Systems
Make sure to enable dynamic charging connection is enabled on the Tap web portal, tutorial can be found here. Below is how to connect on the side of the charger/vehicle.
Tesla
Use your Tesla vehicle to communicate with the Tap for dynamic charging. Setup for Tesla dynamic charging can be found here
Wallbox - Pulsar
Use your Wallbox, Pulsar Plus charger to communicate with the Tap for dynamic charging via OCPP. Setup for Wallbox, Pulsar Plus dynamic charging can found here
Grizzl-E
Use your Grizzl-E charger to communicate with the Tap for dynamic charging via OCPP. Setup for Grizzl-E dynamic charging can be found here
Troubleshooting
OCPP Connected but not charging?
Try to unplug and plug back the charger.
Check the status page on the Tap web portal to see if dynamic charging is connected
This might be a more nuanced issue where you can contact us with questions.
How to disconnect OCPP?
Go through the setup on the Tap web portal, one select charger, and then hit None for the connection type. The same can be said for the charger/vehicel side, navigate to OCPP to API connection and reset or turn it off.
